During Cleaning		 This portrait was coated with a thick dirt film. These layers impart an overall gray appearance to the surface and flatten the modeling. Removal has reinstated the original warm flesh tones.

During Cleaning		 Under binocular magnification, the overlaying varnish and dirt was removed using organic solvents and cotton swabs. The portrait now assumes its original color relationships.
