| The Phoenix Art Museum's Collection includes almost 16,000 artworks. Emphasis is on American, Asian, European, Latin American, Modern, Contemporary, and Western American art, plus Fashion Design and the Thorne Miniature Rooms. The museum's European Collection features more than 1,200 paintings including this work by one of America's renown Luminist artists. Gifford (1823-1880) concentrated on the effects of light and atmosphere giving him an intermediate position between Cole, who influenced his early work, and Inness on his later work. | |||||
